Flourishing class: How has your upbringing shaped you?
Wednesday 12 April 2023 from 19:30 to 21:30
Nieuwe Herengracht 18, Amsterdam
You grow up and suddenly notice that you have been raised by your parent(s) or guardian(s). How things went at your house is not how it goes everywhere. Your parents or guardians passed on their ideal, believes and rituals to you. Have you thought about what you want to take with you or leave behind?
In this flourishing class (workshop), we will share ideas and creative exercises about how you can deal with your upbringing. With the insights of philosophy and sociology we discover different parenting styles. Were your parents controlling or did they gave you the freedom to explore? What has it brought you? And when was the moment that your parents stopped raising you? With the anthropologist Van Gennep, we research the importance of transitional rituals. We will create our own ritual, draw our lifeline, share experiences, and go back to our childhood. This way you consciously decide what you want to take with you and what you want to leave behind.
Do you find this an interesting theme, but is this date not convenient for you? Leave your email address here, and we will send you a message when this flourishing class is scheduled again.
On this night:
✔️ We share questions and insights about our upbringing
✔️ We go back to our childhood
✔️ We map our your upbringing
✔️ We decide which influences you want (not) to take with you
What can you expect?
Flourishing classes are inspiring workshops in which we discuss themes that go beyond the everyday practice. For example: life, love, relationships, friendship, career, and identity. Perhaps you sometimes ask yourself the question; what do I really think is important? Or what drives me and does that suit me? With disruptive exercises and in an experimental setting, we encourage you to think and take action. Not only do we give you the theoretical knowledge, but we also put it into practice right away and get to work actively to leave you with new insights and concrete next steps.
The activities of De Kwekerij are intended for all students and young professionals who want to flourish between the ages of 18-35, of all backgrounds, gender identities and sexual preferences. Are the prices stopping you from coming? Send an email to email@example.com and we will discuss what is possible! We like to think along with you. Unfortunately, De Kwekerij is not (yet) wheelchair accessible. You can attend the flourishing class online or we can find another creative solution that works for you. If you have any doubts about the accessibility of one of our events for any other reason, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. We hope to meet you soon!
The flourishing classes are given by growers. Growers are people between the ages of 18 and 35 who have completed our Kwekerij School. The Kwekerij School is a one-year course in which growers learn the methodology of De Kwekerij, practice with all parts of a flourishing class, receive 360-degree feedback and familiarize themselves with the themes of De Kwekerij.
The training of the Kwekerij School is given by Guy Wijnen. Guy was trained in training by Karin de Galan (School for Training) and has over 9 years of experience as a trainer for small and large organizations. By learning the methodology and taking it into practice, the growers are prepared for giving flowering classes.
